...made me go all starstruck and girlishly tongue-tied. It's been a while since I've been this close to a celebrity of such calibre. I guess the build-up to that precious moment made it even more special. Putting complete trust in my ability to program my Navigator saw me taking a half an hour detour and then the traffic in the rain! Aaarrrrgh! I was just about sure that I was going to miss this opportunity and I had soooo been looking forward to it. By the time I finally made it there about 45min late for the opening, Chris was smilingly facing yet another 50 or so happy customers...so I took my place in the queue. By the time it was my turn I got quite flustered handing him my helmet for the second time in two years and asking for my jacket to get endorsed as well...oh dear!
At one stage he mounted this black and white Katana 1000 and said:"My dad would have liked that one! It's certainly a bit more comfortable..." I could totally relate to that!
Chris is still the even keeled, charming young man he was two years ago when our paths crossed last. Fame has not gone to his head and I doubt that it ever will. If I was his mother, I'd be a very proud mum. So I wished him a very successful and safe season and I hope he won't settle for less than he's worth! He's one of our most outstanding Aussie sporting heroes and we should all be right behind him!
