Canberra

These garbling, content little beauties created an authentic Australian soundscape for us, as they settled on their favourite branch to cope with the rest of this hot day in January.

The Girl is in the middle of HSC anxiety and we attempted to provide her with some research opportunities by making our pilgrimage to Canberra's War Museum, the Australian National Art Gallery and the Australian National Museum. 1940s Australia is her field of interest for her Individual Project in Drama Costume Design.
It is not that far..a couple of hours down the Highway and ...bingo!

We splurged and rented the Novotel appartment for the night...oooh how I love sleeping in king-sized 'egyptian cotton' sheets! Our car was happy as Larry too...it got to spend the night in the lockup garage with a blue Maserati.

I took loads of pictures in the War Memorial, but both the interiors of the Gallery and the National Museum were no-go zones for cameras. I respect that. However, the surrounding park lands had sculptures galore and I had a ball, greatful to have had another chance to work with the new camera.

The Sculpture Garden at the Australian National Gallery featured some interesting work. Never mind the artist's intention. To me these heads were a haunting reminder of the Vietnam War and actually coming face to face with what human beings endure for what they felt does their country good.

This is my favourite picture of the whole trip. It is a (wo/)manmade landscape in the sculpture garden. As we walked amongst the trees a fine mist of water was released to cool down the air and create this daytime fog scene.

This area became a bit of a playground for us..in this shot I liked the shadows all lined up in a row of basic shapes.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...

Oh,oh!...
