I got my first glimpse of the first family of Sydney, or should I say Australian Theatre, I strolled along the boardwalk of the Wharf, flanked by pictures of past glories.Once past the vision the brain caught up with its stimuli and I had to step back to get another sneaky peek of that mighty little warrior, clad in cardboard box covered in aluminium foil, wielding a mighty red ballon sword, having his photo taken via phone camera in the front office of the STC. Not long after that, they emerged happily from the safety of glass doors and congregated right in the middle of the narrow walkway of the wharf. There was no way we could avoid their presence. Cate and Andrew... right there. Two metres between us. Two steps and we could have touched them both to check if they're real!
Cate and Andrew announced the winners of the Patrick White Playwright of the Year Award and then we were treated to two fabulous Playreadings...champagne and canapes.
