My first impression of today had a bright tinge of orange...
The window seemed covered in coloured translucent wrapping paper and I just knew instinctively that I had to grab my camera and make a run for it.
The first thing I could get a hold of was a pair of brown pants, which were to come in handy, as they did not show the dust so much...yep, we were covered by a fine layer of dust particles, which had been swept up somewhere out west in our red centre and had now come to visit the coast.
It was eerie...I had never seen anything like it here in Australia. Dubai looked a bit like it gets this kind of thing on a weekly basis, but here? Never!
I get to the beach and there is no horizon. It looked like thick red fog had settled on the water...life on Mars. A lone figure crossed the beach like a lone survivor after the holocaust of doomsday.
People huddled near the surfclub's changerooms, getting ready for their daily exercise...I remember thinking 'Why would you bother? Surely this can't be good for you?!' But it did not matter that the air was filled with pollutants, Joggers jogg and swimmers swim. Why change the good habit of a lifetime? So they go about their daily routine, as I look on, with my trusted artificial memory in hand and at the ready to record the day of dusty dawn.
