Ulysses

Coming of Age...
Maybe I should rephrase that...Joining Ulysses..sounds much more adventurous. doesn't it?
Well, I had been toying with the idea for a while. Every Thursday morning on my way to work I used to see them gather at a petrol station I pass regularly. "Here I am off to work and they are about to have a whole lot of fun...one of these days I'll chuck a sicky and ride with them"...wishful thinking...never liked pretending to be sick...never happened that way.

It took six month from my first internet search to my first actual ride with this 'motley crew'. My current circumstances saw me in the fortunate position to work part time for a little while and Thursday is my day.

So far I have joined them on trips to Canyonleigh, Currarong and Cordeaux Dam...must be 'C' month! Each time they got me to discover new and interesting roads (...and that is not because the Alzheimers is getting worse).

The pace is different and I wonder sometimes what they think of me and my grasshopper when I overtake the slower cruisers to get to the front of the pack...

I've met some very nice people in the group.

One of which happens to write the ride reports. He told me at the recent outing that he had mentioned my taking part in their rides. Out of curiosity I asked for a rendition, upon which he stated "I refered to you as the mysterious woman with a beautiful accent"...

"Have you gone mad?", I asked, "that's how you make me enemies!"

He looked stunned and asked "How?"

"You all have wives, remember?!", I replied with a wink....and we laughed.

But I sure hope to meet the women soon, so I wont get a reputation I can't live up to...
