Great Southern Rides- Mystery Ride

What a perfect day to go for a ride! After all that rain last night I certainly started to worry about our outing, but it turned out to be just magical.

On our way to our meet point at Albion Park Maccas we had a timely reminder that this is still the DD zone, when a couple of well hidden police officers without any blue signage held up both of their 'guns', making sure to cover both southbound lanes ... but it did not worry us, as the traffic was travelling well below.

We met up with a few of my Illawarra Riders lady friends and Gina brought her friend Kathy along, who had just done the L's test the other day. She was going to brave 'The Pass', which was a good start... little did she know that the ride was going to get a lot worse in terms of twistyness and road condition! But she stuck it out and what's even better: no complaints! (Respect!!!!)

Well, the Mystery Ride took us to Shoalhaven Heads via a stop at Robertson, another at Kangaroo Valley, a re-group in Berry and then we had lunch at the 'Heads Hotel'...

I had the Bucket of Prawns, which looked like a huge serve, but most of it was filled with crushed ice. Fair enough! I would not have been able to eat any more of those fresh and sweet huge prawns anyway! All the meals looked scrumptious and the staff were caring and sweet... a nice change!

Sandra, Jenny, Gina, Kathy and Michaela from GRO and IR's Joey, Kelly and Wendy had a beautiful day out, exploring the great roads we sport in the Illawarra Region. On our way back Sandra joined us IR ladies for a quick detour to Jamberoo...nice twisties...beats the Hwy!

This was my first ride using my brand new GPS phone...and it had me challenged...can't wait to work it out! For those interested to give this place a go...51 River Road, Shoalhaven Heads...The 'Heads Hotel'...nice view across the river mouth too!(Thanks to Kelly for the piccies!)
