Seat Bling -part two

The day finally came when the weather was just right and there was a little spare time...just enough to make it to Metzi's and drop off the seat. When I complimented him on the outstanding craftmanship he clearly displayed with the merchandise he displays on his webpage and on Wendy's seat cover, he brought out a 1996 Moto Guzzi, lovingly restored and most importantly, the seat design... aaah, I wish I had a camera to take a picture of it to show you... it was stunning! Red with a single 5cm white stripe, offset to one side, continuing the entire length of the bike.

It sounded amazing too! certainly one to please the senses!

George and 'Guz', who'd just ridden the bike down from Queensland, doing it 'tough'...Waterfallway, Oxley, Buckets and the Old Road...(Oh give me a break! I dream of doing just that for years now!), were just about to go for a pie....well we all know what that means here in the Illawarra. There is only one place motorcyclists go for pies...to the top of Macquarie Pass at the Robertson Pieshop.
Good call!

I decided to ride ahead, as I did not want them to have to wait, but enjoy the experience as much as possible. The fading daylight saw us to the bottom of the Pass, but as we made it to the top it was dark and the fog had set in. That hot chocolate was just the thang!

George gave me a quick history lesson on Macedonia and Greece, which was most interesting and set in context for me a political struggle I often wondered what the fuss was all about... no wonder!

The Pass had plunged into darkness by the time we decended and I am as blind as a bat, especially with wind irritated teary eyes...gotta get myself a set of goggles that take prescription lenses.

Again I went ahead, but they soon caught up and since I am heavy on the breaks before cornering, they must have had some interesting moments behind me there...

The liner has not yet been removed from my jacket, but the jumper was left at home. No heated grips on this ride, but i tried out the new Aldi gloves I got the other day. Unfortunately the gas hand does not feel right. The carbon protector edge cuts into my knuckle and that's annoying. Pitty... my old gloves are just soooo comfy. After three years they have moulded themselves perfectly to my hands.

Back to the seat... it will add a bit of height to swing the old leg over. We looked at the available colours and picked a nice light green that will look just fine for that lucky clover and whilst the black has a silvery speckle and my bike's original black paint has a slight golden speckle, it won't matter much.
