The rear of my 96 Ninja always looked a little boring to me and when I look back at the bikes I've owned, I discovered that somehow, that's always been a problem. My 650 had a white seat added, which also strutted a more racey shape. The Z1000 was completely stripped of the pillion seat and had a one piece race seat (egli-style) fitted on a shortened subframe....jeeez, where we radical! Chopping off 15 cm of rear end subframe is not exactly regulation conversion, but it sure made no difference to its performance....
However, I've been looking forward to change the rear end since the day I got my bike and I came up with a design that would make it look more of a single seater without doing the paperwork: upholster the pillion seat...add/shape it differently. Recently I wanted to add a design, a four-leaf clover and a word across the back or along the side..."Lucky". Someone said that I may get mistaken to be of Irish descent, so I thought perhaps a set of snake eye dice would add to it, but I don't gamble, especially not on the bike.
Hmmm... I could always do this (NOT!!!!):
Well, I will get my head around the design soon, but the reason I made this post is that I had a good look in the flesh/flash at a recent addition to Wendy's bike. The seat cover looks simply fantastic. It was done by Metzi, here in the Illawarra....and he's my choice for the job.
I wanted to keep my original seat, as DaMan and DaGirl want to come along on some of the rides, but when it's just me, it will be bling time! Today I found a second hand seat base and I don't care that it has a tear in it, as I won't keep the cover anyway. So the work can begin...
I'll keep you posted and show some pictures when it's ready.
