GRO- ANNIVERSARY RIDE report

In the morning, after a 'Spanish Night in Glebe', which featured Dancers and as much Sangria as you can handle, I drove the car home and dropped the girl off, before taking the bike out to meet up with the GRO ride at Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains.

Of cause I did not make the meet point, as I was nowhere near it at the time. Even with daylight saving ending and gaining an additional hour of sleep I preferred to allow the body some more time to recover...

There was an increasing chill in the air as the road climbed up the mountains and I was glad that I followed my intuition and added my jacket liner for the first time this season. Packing the wet weather gear also came in handy on the return journey.

Lindy and Spiros were waiting for me whilst I witnessed the obligatory cutting of the cake and then it was off to Lithgow for a quick chinwag with Lindy's mum and then on to find Meagan's memorial along the Putty. Last year Lindy rode up to Yanko Road with me to remember our Don, so it was only natural that I'd return the favour.

Traffic was getting somewhat rediculous with all those weekend warriors returning to their city abode and then the rain started to make things harder. It pelted down for most of the return trip with some very heavy falls around Penrith, Campbelltown and near Waterfall.

After that experience it was quite surprising that once I had turned off towards the coast at Helensburgh, all roads were dry. It was just like stepping out of the shower. The only reminder of torrents past were my right foot, now stuck in a wet sock and the knowledge that I can trust those ct2's (tyres). In fact, I love my tyres. So far they have not once let me down...I should really start to look after them as well as they look after me.

Next time I get to a Servo, I'll check the air pressure- for once!
