I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all my friends and family a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year 2008!
We've just returned from our memorable outing to the biggest Party the City of Sydney has to offer. It was the best New Year's Eve I've had in a while (...and last year we'd even spent it at Disney Land...)
It was an awesome location. We managed to get tickets to Dawson's Point, the South Eastern corner of the Bridge, right in front of the most expensive suites one could hire for NYE. What a view!
Ali G, Sarah Blasco and some other Channel 10 kronies were hosting the live coverage frome there. It was a hoot!
The only thing that made things a little boring was the 1 1/4 hour line up for a beer, with a two cup limit per person...
The fireworks were really well orchestrated and it was a real bonus to see both, the 9pm and the midnight show.
The theme was 'The Time of our Lives' and this year there was a no go zone for pleasurecraft on the harbour, because a selection of boats, some from the Maritime Museum were parading in full view, but once the simulcast music and Fireworks came to its moment of a crescendo, they all switched on their red and yellow lights at the same time, displaying key years in Australian history.
I'd have loved to have had all my friends there with me, but everyone to their own. Next year will be even bigger, as we will be, with a little bit of luck, on the Opera House Forecourt.
